Make an AD user a local Administrator

Hi all,

ok, I'm really struggling

when I log onto a server with the local admin account, I'm a full admin and can do everything. However, when I add my AD user account to the local admins group and login, I'm not.

The reason I know, is when I navigate to the c:\windows folder and right-click, there are no options to create a new text document

I need this as I have just installed the dell poweredge deployment kit for sccm and it won't run as I dont have access to one of the folders

any ideas?

Actually, that's a combination of UAC and folder security of protected OS files, not just administrative privileges.

Interestingly I'm installing SCCM 2012R2 as we type, and you can get round your problem by assigning yourself as the owner of the folder in question then assigning security to it after that.

(or by using takeown and icacls from command line)
