Makes me wonder if I'll every need a desktop again?

So I decided to upgrade to a 17" MSI laptop, with 16GB DDR4 (2*8GB), 1TB HDD, 256GB NVME SSD, and an 8GB GTX1070 and a 7700HQ.

I kept my 32" AOC monitor and the performance from a laptop is just phenomenal. Cities Skylines runs better on this than my desktop did, GTA V, 1080p, all maxed, ultra, 4xAA, looks amazing runs smooth as! The 32" monitor is 1440P but I sit in bed and the 17" display is great really crisp, great blacks and 120Hz display.

But it really makes me think would I really ever need a desktop again? This laptop isn't even extremely loud and the GPU keeps to a nice 65 degrees. Just amazing all this power in a 17" laptop, can't believe it!

I feel the same when I bought my msi gt73 7rf titan pro. I don't think I'll own a desktop again. The laptop plays everything i throw at it. It's quick and perfect when I'm working away. It's been the best thing I've bought in ages. Don't get me wrong I paid 2800 for it and that got me a gtx1080, i7 7820hk, 32gb ram.

I was on the train on way back from Leeds yesterday playing Cities Skylines, much smoother than my desktop with a 4820K and a GXT1080 even thought it's a GTX1070 and a 7700HQ but at 1080P it's probably like a 1080Ti with my old PC as I was using 1440P but I still have the monitor I use it now and again. It's surreal, a desktop PC in a backpack!

I think we'd all be running powerful laptops if we could afford them.

But of course they demand a premium, if you want it to match a desktop. Plus I'd rather have a lightweight laptop than an outright gaming laptop for 90% of the time I'd want to use one.

I've also got a Surface Pro 4, but we're getting a Lenovoa el cheapo free with John Lewis BB so might use that for general office things / when going away on holiday and get rid of the Surface Pro 4.
