making a DS format its card

Helping a friends kids out with some DS type stuff and need to make it format the card that is in it because its not doing save games properly.

Its the first one.. which key combo does the job ?

Something like LR and A B X Y together once you turn it on. Should be in the games manual.

Doesn't the DS save the games on the game cartridge?

There should be delete save games option on the game somewhere

I imagine it's a legit card, as solving that issue on a R4 is easy... not gonna say how tho.

If it is legit i'm certain as above it involves holding a combination of keys at startup but i can't for the life of me remember what the combination was, sorry.
