Making A Final Decision - 27" Gaming Monitor

I've been researching for quite a while now and have decided to try and make a final decision once and for all.

I will be using the monitor for PS3 gaming alone. Not a hardcore gamer, just want a great visual experience when I do play.

The monitors I have narrowed it down to are:

Benq M2700HD
Has been on my list pretty much the whole time. Seems to have good specs and what reviews I have found are positive.

Iiyama ProLite B2712HDS
Have seen many threads end up with the suggestion of choosing this monitor, and so have heard very good things said about it.

Hanns.G HZ281HPB
Been reading through the large thread all about this monitor, with everyone saying it's pretty much perfect!
My doubts with it are that, if I'm understanding correctly, as it is a 16:10 monitor as opposed to a 16:9, the picture from my PS3 will be stretched to fit the screen (apparently no way to have the black bars above/below :( ). So this may count this monitor out, which would be unfortunate as this is the one I have heard the greatest feedback on :(.

(Extra Question: If the monitor is a 1920 x 1200, then does that mean that as the PS3 can only produce at 1920 x 1080, that the image will be downscaled and result in it looking worse than on a 1920 x 1080 monitor?)

ViewSonic VX2739WM
Seen it mentioned a fair few times around these forums and seems to have the highest specs out of the lot.

Asus VE276Q
Have not done much research into this but was rated as the best 27" monitor for gaming on a site so I thought I should consider it.

So these are the 5 that I have come down to. If you know of another that I should seriously consider over these then I would both love to know and be annoyed that it slipped through my researching! aha.

Any help with making a decision would be very much appreciated, as I have now come to a standstill, and could do with as much advice as possible.

Thanks.

let us know which one you eventually go for,im in the same situation and like you im thinking of overlooking the Hanns.G HZ281HPB due to its 16:10 ratio

^ might mean space wise as well

Personally go for the HannsG or Iiyama, the HannsG has had more revisions and is a tiny bit bigger (I wouldn't worry about stretching, I didn't notice it when I used my xbox on it from 2.5-3m away), Iiyama gives you slightly better quality and it's a little bit cheaper

Why not go for a 27" tv then? Atleast you have speakers if you ever need to use them and you can use it as a TV also. I dont see the point of getting a monitor if its never going to be used as a PC monitor.

Just because generally from what I've found is that you can get better quality monitor for a certain price than you would a TV.
I don't have an aerial socket in the room I will be putting it in and so will never use it as a TV, so instead of paying extra for a feature I won't use I thought I might as well just go for a monitor.

Also realise that if you use a monitor you will need some speakers, or have your audio going into your PC etc

I've read a lot of good things about the VE276Q and almost got one myself. I was deciding between that and the Samsung P2770H. I ended up going for a 24" just for space reasons as I couldn't sit far enough away from the screen to make 27" viable.

If it is going to be used only for gaming definately go for a monitor and not a TV. The 27" TV's I have seen tend to have a lower refresh rate compared to the monitor version, e.g. Samsung P2770H v P2770HD.

The 27" seems to be the one people are going for these days instead of the 30",maybe because of the eyefinity thing. Anyway i have looked, and because for me Display port sort of narrows the field a lot as most dont have it !
But if you are using PS3 only then display port isnt a problem but will future consoles use display port i guess they might, what resolution does a PS3 deliver?
