Could you not crop the canvas size down to where the movement of each frame doesn't come into shot. It would make the .gif smaller but the movement would be gone?
For example I just tested it out and reduced the canvas size down to 200x130mm, this got rid of the movement but left me with a lower shot of eruption. So for that you could gradualy re-animate the image, dragging them down for every frame giving the illusion the camera is panning upwards(given the smoke/ash is the main focus of the shot).
