Making a magazine...

Just as a heads up as said above if you are seriously looking to get into this I would consider learning both, but make more of an effort with InDesign. I work for a publisher (we look after the F1 contract amongst others) and my PMs have mentioned the need for more people with InDesign knowledge as it is becoming more of the norm (although we still use Quark).

don't think ihave it still m'fraid but this is the front of a gamee box (using the same method) as part of making a GAME DVD box with booklet :

Publisher will probably suit the needs for this best, it's really easy to use but can do lots of bits and bobs to 'jazz' it up as desired all quickly and easily.

You can always create text and images on Photoshop, Fireworks or whatever and import it in as well.

Write about something you know. Or write about something you WANT to know. Anything else will just be a pointless, forced exercise and shine through in your work.

Sidewinder-I wont be it is for my Media GCSE. You can buy it from me if you want :p
Ok now i have the program sorted either Qwark or Indesign.
I need some ideas for stories.
I am atm going to do a 2 page spread on connectivity on the go eg looking at how good iPad's,netbooks, phones are etc for internet browsing, email and games etc whilst on the go.
Good story or has anyone got any other ideas?
Windows v Mac? etc

1) find warez forum
2) download foreign language IT mags
3) copy-pasta spreads and reports after you get them translated and put them in your GCSE project
4) ??????
5) profit

not that I suggest you do that....

No,Sorry mate. It is just a media gcse coursework piece. Your welcome to write a story though or give me an idea for one if you already had one? :p

As enjoyable as it is to write GCSE coursework for someone else I think I'll pass! Good luck with it ;)

haha i thought so lol..thanks mate
I have just got Indesign. I have now closed Indesign as it has completely confuzled me.

Expected this to be the case.

Get yourself on Publisher, I'm sure it will all be relatively familiar as it's part of the same package as Word, and they are all pretty standard.

You can create Graphic Elements in Fireworks/Photoshop and import in if need be.

Thanks Bucket, Fireworks easy? I was actually going to ask for a program which would make some good graphics as good to make Publisher look good.

Guys i need some serious help as i am getting lost. I made a cover in publisher but it just looks terrible.
I really want to make something like magazines such as 'Stuff' and 'T3' has anyone got any tips? Indesign confuses me unless im missing templates etc?
