after having a major ploblem with my current PC (not letting me run IE, Outlook or install/uninstall anything) ive decided its time to replace my 754 AMD 3000+ CPU and 6600GT setup and tomorrow collect my 8650+ Phenom with 4Gb mem 500gig HDD and 8800GT.

Problem is ive been playing mostly on the consoles of late and just got rid of my 360 but have played most of the main titles that are now being released on PC (bar Orange Box).

So can you guys advise me on some recent(ish) releases that are enjoyable, ive just purchased The Orange Box as the last game PC i played was HL2 apart from a dabble with RCT3 thats it

Also will the above system run Crysis, i dont know much about it other then it looks ace and is supposed to need a good PC to run it (will my new one do?) also i have a workmate who is selling it will i be able to install it OK?

Finally... one for the misses... she wants to get into an MMORPG and ive purchased a 14 day trail for WoW but is it too late to get into it and also is there any better alternatives (or very close without the monthly fee or a pay as you play option for WoW)

Cheers

Gary

cheers Quixote, im looking forward to getting on orange box, and ive read about some of the great mods available so im gonna try them out.

on the other ones though, ive played and got bored of bioshock on the 360 and unless i decide to set my wheel up for the PC im gonna stick to consoles for racing games (i.e. GT5 and F1)

and also with regards to the WoW query, she is a mother of 1 and i work fulltime so im reluctant to pay the monthly fee as it will only be a few hours a week she will get free to game, but ill see what she thinks i suppose... women

As far as driving games go, for non - simulation games, the 360 pad on PC is fantastic - not sure how much you know about it but if you plug in any wired 360 pad & install the drivers, you're there on all modern games. I'd recommend a 360 pad as an essential companion for PC gaming.

Thanks, i have a wired 360 pad left over from when i had my 360 so ill give that a try for a couple of controller happy games

thanks for the list C64.
Race Driver GRID (if i get it will be out of a bargin bin for a console)
HL2 episode 1 and 2 (Got Orange box :))
Team fortress 2 (as above)
Call of duty 4 (this is a must for online ive heard so ill be getting this)
Crysis (heard many mixed reviews but if i can get it cheap i think ill give it a go)
Company of heroes (as ever) best game ever made imo. (never looked into but just have and i think ill pick it up later today)
Mass effect (Played on xbox)
Stalker (gonna get)
Timeshift (i think ill try a demo first)
Assasins creed (Played on PS3)
The Witcher (50:50 on this one)

thanks for the help guys and after the misses trys her 14 day trial i think ill pick up guid wars for her to dabble with.

also im gonna pick up the new C&C games and possibly the 10 year pack too as i love C&C (most of them anyway some are ****)

Suggest you get Windows XP rather than Vista. not to start an argument. :)

your not the first person to tell me this unfortunatly id already paid for vista and i now have the PC at home.

if i have too many problems with vista i may go back to XP but id like to try stick it for now.

i just got back from town and got my pc working and im just about to install my gathering of games.

Company of Heroes + opposingfronts
C&C3 Kane Edition
UT3
Football manager 2008 (not gonna push the computer but its addictive)
and i got orange box yesterday

also for the misses:
CSI 3 dimensions of murder
Rayman 3
and a free 14 day trial of guild wars to go with the 99p 14 day trial of WoW

very nearly got COD4 but i decided to try get some of the other games done first

Also im more of a sim racing fan so Grid isnt my kinda game (i did try the demo but didnt like it too much)
