Not sure what this is exactly called but Ive seen it done plenty of times on music videos and I think I've even see it on the screens in TGI Friday.

Basically I want to be able to use a standard video recorder and walk around a venue and then somehow speed it up and/or make it a little bit jumpy like a time lapse video.

Being very new to Macs I'm not sure if there is any software out there than can do this for me?

Thanks

If you've got iMovie on your Mac you should be able to do it by loading the clip you have into a new project, then hover over one of them so you see a small blue/white button with a cog on the clip in the bottom right hand corner.

Click that and choose "Clip adjustments" From here you can choose the time that the clip takes to play through, so theoretically if you have a 10 second clip and you type in 5 seconds it will play at double the speed.

In terms of the way other people do stuff like this, I think it tends to be done with time lapse controls on stills cameras and then this sequence of images is put together into one clip, but the above method should work for you without downloading anything else like Final Cut Pro.
