Well, I've started to build up enough good shots that I could start building a website, and I'm playing with the idea of doing it and taking photography a bit more seriously.

I don't have the first clue about how to start, what the costs are, etc. Could anyone here advise me as a newbie?

I'm assuming you're wanting to have a go at making the website yourself?

First you'll need a webhost & a domain name. The cheapest package from either Vidahost or TSOhost will be adequate for now. If you want something free to test first on, check out x10hosting (don't use them long term).

Next you need to think about what kind of website you want, you can either use a precoded CMS system such as Pixelpost (would recommend for beginner) or Joomla or Wordpress with a photography theme. Alternatively you can design and develop your website from scratch or pay someone to do it for you.

Okay so I buy a domain (eg devrijphotography.com) then use a cut and paste code for the site? Sounds easy enough. Cheers guys!
