Hi just been asked a question about making gaming videos as you play but can also do commentary over the top.... i,m thinking about the program FRAPS but the question i was aaked is some sort of device that plugs direct in to your PC

Thx in advance Shotgun

P.S Not sure if this is the correct thread i needed to post in for my question.

Theres plenty of hardware available on console formats, years ago i had a Haupauge(?) PVR. On PC I'm unsure about hardware but theres plenty of software options.

You mentioned FRAPS, that seemed to be the best known program when I started recording gameplay and I used that then dabbled with others.

Now I'm using Mirillis Action!, this seems to be the best going at the moment.
Has almost no effect on my FPS whilst recording, unlike FRAPS.

Give this program a try before seeking out hardware because I doubt any device will perform better than Action!

almost forgot there is an option to record commentary whilst playing or afterwards.

PC software wise try DXtory mate, very good and does not impact FPS for me. A lot of the big youtubers use it.

If your interested in streaming try OBS, its supposed to be very good and I think it can be used for recording as well (and its free).

Ok i,ve looked into this program Mirillis Action looks like the thing i,m after so my other question is:

I have PS3, 28" LCD with 2 HDMI slots..... if i hook my PS3 up as normal in 1 HDMI slot would i be able to use HDMI to DVI lead to hook my PC up aswell to allow me to do my video,s & commentary via the MA prog on my PC?
