Making LCD monitor works as a photo frame

I've got a spare Samsung Syncmaster LCD monitor which I would like to use as a photo frame but without the use of a PC base unit and keyboard. I know some sort of CPU is required to get the images to output in (S)VGA to the monitor. Is there a standalone device available that will allow me to show photos stored on a memory card, USB memory stick etc available?

I've ordered an HDMI to DVI converter cable to see if I can output from a DVD player to the monitor. I hope this will work but I would prefer something less obtrusive than a DVD player if possible. Anybody know of anything?
