Hello!

Simple short question here. I've got an CD which is a bit quiet. When I rip it with EAC and convert to MP3 I want to make it a bit louder.

But what would be the best way to do this without losing too much quality?
Should I make the .WAV louder with something like Audacity and then convert to MP3, or convert the whole thing to MP3 and then increase the volume with MP3 Gain or some such utility?

Thanks a lot
Steve

If you are just playing it on the pc, use MP3 gain. most decent music players have the ability to right mp3gain tags to files, ie foobar2000. using mp3 gain means the audio isnt actually changed at all so no degredation in the quality of the audio.

Exactly. Please for the love of god do not follow the stupid guide that someone posted on here about "making your music sound better in winamp" which involved turning on equalization and turning off replaygain
