Hi i need some advice. I wanna do something to my computer to stop the sound of a large airconditioning unit!! I was thinking getting the Arctic Cooling T1 Silentium Silent Midi Tower Case - 350W Seasonic Silent PSU (CA-000-AR).

Would what i have fit in here, would it be much quieter, anything else i should consider?

I currently has this spec,
Processor - AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Processor
Operating System - Microsoft® Windows XP Home
Memory – 1gb Geil Value RAM
Hard Disk - 200GB 7200 RPM ATA-100 Drive
Optical 1 - Double Layer 16x Multiformat (+/-) DVD-Rewiter Drive
Graphics – geforce 6800 LE leadtech
Sound – Audigy 2
Us robotics wireless card
Ports etc. - USB2.0 Ports x4, Parallel & Standard Ports
Case - Full ATX Tower Case with Upgrade Capacity (7 Drive Bays)
Motherboard - Microstar MS6741 Micro ATX Motherboard

Thanks for any help :)

What's the noisest part? Usually if you silence the loudest you'll get a considerable lower level....wheras if you just save a little bit here and there won't be much lower (ie if CPU fan is only at 1800rpm, near silent) IMO you should have a pretty silent system already...compared to mine :p . Your mobo is passive, only 1 HD.

One way of reducing apparent noise is moving PC further away (every 1M is 3dB) or placing it the case so case is indirect - with padding around it (but not such a way airflow is restricted)

some things to consider:

if your using the stock CPU cooler that came with your processor then definately buy a decent CPU cooler, Artic Freezer 64 Pro is good and cheap, quiet and cool (in every sense of the word :p)

buy a GPU cooler to replace the normal noise stock coolers that come with the GFX cards. the Zalman VF900 came out not long ago and is only £24ish.

replace any fans inside the PC with AKASA Ultra Quiet fans, they're good value for money... the Scythe S-FLEX fans are good but kinda hard to get hold of... Nexus do good silent ones too.

look into getting a Silentmaxx Aluminium HD-Silencer, they fit into a normal 5.25" slot (where you optical drives would normally go) and really do cut down on the noise from reviews i've read.
i wanted to get one for my 74GB Raptor (the noise little blighter) but alas, it wont fit in my Antec Sonata (one of the best silent cases going).

the Seasonic Silent PSU's are good, quiet and stable... good value for money - i'm looking to get the 600w model myself over the weekend :)
