Making my pc not as loud

The fans in my PC currently give off a lot of noise, the side fan is really loud.

I have an Antec One gaming case and I'm wondering what I can do to make the fans quieter.

I have a fan on top of the case, one on the back, one on the front and one on the side. I also have a large CPU cooler and a 280x gfx card but that doesn't let off much noise.

Would it be an idea for me to invest in some good quality quiet fans or is their a certain type of case I could buy that dampens sound? If so would I be able to get one with a budget of about £60?

Could I get some software that would control all of the case fans so I could have them running as slow as possible? Would this affect temps much?

Depending on your motherboard and fan headers, plus the type of fans and if they can be pwm controlled are the main factors. Many motherboards allow you to set the speeds of fans. Alternatively you can get something like THIS and use Speedfan to control up to 11 fans. Obviously different fans will have different rpms so they all wont spin at the same speed but you can experiment and find a nice airflow/noise balance.

I have six fans in my case with four connected to the Phantek and you can hardly hear any of them.

You could either buy a fan controller or use some cables that transfer the volts to a lower voltage. This means less volts powering the fan so overall the fan is slower. Try finding a software that will tell you your fan speeds, maybe 'corsair link' not sure if it works with non-corsair builds or 'speed fan' you can find some by Google searching them. The fans should not make too much difference to the temps depending how many you have pushing air into the case for the CPU cooler to catch the cold air pushed in. I would leave the exaust fan(s) on full or if you have two maybe half as this takes the warm air out the case. I personally have 5 intakes bringing air into the case all set on 7V they were all on 14 but i used the cables to down the volts. These fans push air onto my h100i that intakes the air to the radiator. then i have one out take at the back and my temps are at 18c idle and 60c-65c when rendering videos under stress at 4.4GHz 4790k.

So find out what your fans are running at and the cheapest way is to use cable converters to down the volts or a expensive way is to use a fan controller, put if your fans are stock at 14v lets say then when using fan controller it will range from 14-21 but this may depend on your fan controller. i use the 7volts cable with a fan controller ranging from 7-14 volts i think.

Hopefully this makes sense, i am new to the forums just wanted to share my experience :)

how are your fans connected atm? Sometimes a couple of the fan headers on the mobo dont have PWM or voltage adjustment so they just spin at full whack giving off a lot of noise, ive had to check my manual a few times to make sure im only connecting fans to the headers that support the fan type.

How many of the fans do you actually need? Try removing the noisy ones and seeing how that affects your temperatures.

A cheap way of quietening fans is to mount them on rubber washers.
