Making my PC quieter?

Isolate which is noisiest component then go about maing it quieter, if its generally noisy then its prob case fans want replacing, after that pinpoint wich component, prob gfx card, could add aftermarket cooler to this, carry on with each noisyest component til it gets to an acceptable level, you can also add dampening material to case, suspend HDDs using elastic, loads of things to try, depends how far you want to go

I had this problem recently. Fan controller can solve it, but I didn't want a load of dials on the front of my case.

I adjusted the fan speed in the BIOS and just turned the noisy fans down to a level where I could hardly hear them.

I also use MSI afterburner to set up dynamic fan speed on the graphics card so that its silent at idle, then gradually increases fan speed as the GPU temps increase.

Higher quality fans with better db/rpm ratios. Obviously those tend to be more expensive than the generic makes.

My Zalman fan controller works fine, my case does have a door so it is hidden from view but its not too ugly.

it's not that I don't want have a fan controller, i actually have one built into my case, I was just wondering how I could make it quieter without changing fan speeds.

So it looks like either:

1) Replace fans with higher quality models

2) Buy a foam sound dampening kit

Noctuas are great, I replaced all the fans on my old Antec 1200 with them and it was awesome
P12s have good static pressure so would be ideal attached to your Megahalems, S12s are designed for your case fans to push lots of air, this is same set up I used to use

Unless you need the full airflow just 7v or 5v mod your fans by modding the molex connectors or modding some molex extensions that way you can take the shunts out and run at full thrust if we ever have a mega heatwave. You can google how to do it. Its dead easy.
