But I could get £30 more in... would it be worth spending it on extra RAM?
- The person that requested it specifically asked for that graphics card, is that the best I could get?
- Would I be better off getting a slightly weaker one with 2gb of RAM?
- What's the quality of the RAM listed?
- I have BF2 and people tell me lots of RAM makes a lot of difference... what do you think?

Welcome to the forums, that is a good graphics card and a good solid specification. I've changed the graphics card and a couple of other components to get you closer to the budget while having 2gb Ram but the system will suffer little to no performance loss because of them. :)

Thanks for the fast reply.

I forgot to mention, I don't really want the cheapest cheapest fan thing because my current computer overheats all the time and sparks and everything... That's one thing I'm hoping to avoid this time. How good is the fan here? Would it be worth spending a little more?

+1

The best you can get for £600, every component is the best bang for the buck in that price range.

Both Geil & Corsair are well known brand so u don't need to worry about quality.

And yes 2Gb does make a difference, more so if you play games @ high details and resolution.

You can still play BF2 with 1Gb but you will suffer stutter during the first 3-5 mins into the game depends on map size.

That Freezer 7 pro is the best cooler for <£20, quiet and more than sufficient for E6300.

Thanks again.

One last thing, someone I know bought a 7900...GT I think and it broke within 2 days, and apparently that was quite common. I think that was back in July, do they still have that problem or not really?

Last question, to show how much of a beginner I really am

How many USB 2.0 slots would that have?

it has 3 on the i/o panel but supports upto 6.

I believe you get 10 USB ports with that mobo, however there will only be 4 at the rear and the other 6 are provided via USB headers connected to the mobo, which Gigabyte won't provide.

With regards to the 7900 I heard it is a lot better now but I can't say for sure cuz I've never owned one.

unles you are an audio file. and really in to top quialtiy and have super speaker setup then onboard audio will be easily enough. only thing i woudl change from your first post is maybe spending more on some 6400ram instead of the 5300 stuff. the sapphire 1950 is cracking card for money
