Hi all,

I'm making the jump to the 1070 soon, but just trying to bind my time and weigh up the market before jumping straight in. The core of me system specs are below. I'll be selling my R9 soon to offset the cost.

My monitor I'm reading I'd be best to make an upgrade on, but is there any decent options without spending silly sums of money? Is my CPU good for now?

*Gigabyte Radeon R9 290 OC WindForce 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (GV-R929OC-4GD)
*Intel Core i5-4670K 3.40GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM
*IIyama Prolite E2473HS 24" Widescreen LED Monitor
*Toshiba SSD HDTS212EZSTA 9.5mm 128GB Solid State Hard Drive

CPU is fine, i would run a small overclock on it if you have a aftermarket cooler. For the monitor i would get what suits your game style, FPS gamers will go for a standard 16:9 1080 144+hz 1ms, or if your like me you can go for a slower but higher detailed 1440p.

Depending on your desk size you could get a larger monitor too, i think 27" is a nice size for 1440p, i think the pixels are just the right size and you can sit from 2-3ft away without having to upscale windows text, depending on your eyes i guess.

The cpu is still awesome, will hold out fine especially if pushing a higher resolution.

The only situation I would replace it would be if you are wanting to go for 120hz+ then you may run into a CPU limit. Even then you may only see a very small benefit from newest gen i5, so the jump would have to be to 6700k/4770k/4790k to see any real benefits
