Is it worth it yet?

Thinking about upgrading to some CorsairTwinX PC3-12800, with a Evga NF790i mobo

What do people think?

Any advice, what could be better?

depends what you want to do with it. IF you really really need the faster ram then yeah go for it. But for £135 per 2gb i still think DDR3 is too much.

DDR2-800 vs. DDR3-1333.
Does DDR3-1333 Make Sense?

Conclusions
There is no miracle again: faster memory yields 1% performance gain on one of the fastest processors with the 1333 MHz FSB, while the only processor for the 1600 MHz bus gains 2% from it. As always, faster memory appears much earlier than we really need it. But let's not act as ignorant users, who shout about being cheated. There is no cheating here. Look at results and draw your conclusions. Sooner or later, we'll have processors that will be able to use the full potential of DDR3-1333. It would have been naive to think otherwise. It will just happen later, that's all.
In terms of DDR3-1600 2x2GB for an extra <£130> for maybe 2fps - 4fps at max? I'd rather put the money towards a new graphics card where you will see a significant boost.

Wait till Nehalem is readily available later in 2009, should hopefully see better DDR3 as well as cheaper prices, its hard enough for them to sell new technology with the Credit Crunch/Recession looming.

Would buying into DDR3 now be a very unwise move? i wont get burnt will i, like has DDR3 gotten to its highest speeds possible, lowest latencies?

In my opinion yes, wait till summer 2009+ when hopefully Nahelem will be readily available.

Your rig is more than capable, if you just got 2GB of DDR2 buy another 2GB i.e. 4GB total, it's cheap enough.
