Hi there,

Real idiot question here!!

I have Partition Manager 8.5,. I'm trying to make my windows partition bigger as there's only a gig or so left so want to use the other 10 or so GB remaining on my Raptor. The stupid thing is Partition Manager won't do it because C is in use which is quite right due to windows. How the heck to I get around this and make this partition bigger by using this spare 10 gb?

Apologies for stupidity!

what it doesn't let you set it, and do it on reboot? what crap software

gparted is a live booting cd (no need to install software) that will do it for you

lol no it just says C: is currently in use and cannot complete the action :( - maybe i'm missing something!

Create a PM boot floppy, boot up off that and then resize the partition. Also not too sure why you're not getting this but if you've correctly installed PM under Windows it should say something along the lines of do you want to perform this operation on next boot.

EDIT: Scrap that - thought you were talking about Partition Magic

I would like to think that most partitioning software would give you the option of creating a boot CD in order to tweak partitions outside of windows. Have you checked it for this option?

I cannot see this kind of option anywhere!?

Partition magic doesn't work with Vista apparently or does it?

Any other options? haven't tried beldd's option yet but will give that a look
