I know you can get the official wireless kit for about £50 but is there any other way you can do it? What about connecting via a USB wireless dongle?

Thanks, Mark

Other USB wifi dongles won't work. The 360 kernal only supports the official Microsoft one.

Use a wireless bridge via the 360's ethernet port - for example see the 'gaming adapters' under networking on OcUK product pages.

Only other way is a wireless access point or "gaming adaptor" ( a AP with gaming writen on it to make more money ;))

******** beaten :(

The official one is very neat, very easy to configure and supports a/b/g networks. At ~£40, it is not much more than the alternatives. The range/signal strength was good for me as well.

I bought a couple of 85mbps home-plugs and ditched the wireless all together ;) . Much better. Cost me £42 for a pair.

What do they do?, sorry to be a n00b..

Plug them into a plug socket and they use your house mains to make a network. So you plug one in near your router with an ethernet cable going to it and then you can then plug another one in anywhere in your house to make another access point. I even have mine going through a 4 plug strip adapter thing and it still works fine (though apparently it drops the speed, I haven't noticed).

Careful with homeplugs, if the two sockets are not on the same circuit or go through the meter, they will not work.

Seconded....it worked great for me when my 360 was wireless. Even managed to stream HD video from the PC upstairs to the 360 downstairs in the living room.
Plus the added benefit of it looking great on the 360 and if you ever want to sell it on you will have no probs

That is one of the reasons I have ignored these solutions, I have 10 different circuits in the house and all the floors in the house are on a separate circuit so I doubt it will work in my house.

I have also heard stories about interference and bad speeds with older wiring, or is that solved with newer solutions?
