Malaria tablets (ADVICE)

Hi,

I have the option of taking these three types of tablet

- Atovaquone (Malarone) - Daily - 2 days before leaving - 7 days after
- Mefloquine (Larium) - Weekly - 1 week before leaving - 4 weeks after
- Doxycycline - Daily - 2 days before - 4 weeks after

Now i know there are obvious practicality differences, Larium being weekly, and Malarone only having to be taken one week after.

However, what i am really concerned about it side-effects, and effects of alcohol (asd i'll be drinking a lot!). Now i know everyone is different but just getting a few personal experiences will help calm me and help me to decide.

I'm going to Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

See your doctor, not allowed medical advice on the forums incase someone gets it wrong etc.

Seek advice from your doctor. None of the members here are qualified enough to answer your question. Medication and it's side effects is a minefield as it varies from person to person.
