Malaysia

I lived there for 18 months (though a while ago) and visited more recently for 3 weeks. What do you want to know exactly?

Primarily tips, things not to do (like in some places an open handed wave is an insult etc), places to avoid, things to be aware of when driving, anything I should know about airport customs etc. Whether there are times of day or night, or specific days of the week that have things I should be aware of (like, they dont work on Wednesdays after midday or something bizarre like that). Any cultural things like in Japan, with bowing and so on. Or some places in the world where you should only address the male when its a couple and so on

Well for most of those Malaysia is very Westernised, especially KL. It always has been, being a British colony, and still is being full of ex-pats and bordering Singapore which has English as its national language and where many English-speaking companies base their Asian HQs as a result.

There's no real faux pas like in the Middle East and most are generally easy going. The worst you'll get is people wanting to take photos of you because you're such a pasty ***, but that's about it and only if you venture to remoter areas.

If you want pointers on what to see and do then let me know what you're into and how much free time you'll have.

Thanks, I'm not too bothered in regards of sight seeing, I will have VERY little time where I am not working
