Just ran a full scan and it's under "c:\Users\name\local settings\temporary internet files\silverlight.exe", I tried to open the local settings folder but windows 7 won't let me, is this a false positive or what, i do have silverlight installed for media centre, how do i go about accessing the exe to test it on virus total?

I managed to open some temporary internet folders but i don't know where it is, i really want to scan it online to check if everything is ok.

run ccleaner first before running an AV scan

it speeds it up by removing temp files first.

could be a false positive

Uninstall silverlight, reboot and see what it says. If it's gone it's a false positive*, if not thorough removal will be required.

*Unwanted rubbish is, imo the correct definition for silverlight. MS stopped supporting it month back when it became apparent that flash and html 5 were beating it into the ground.

You could put in a Linux LiveCD and access the filesystem/upload to virustotal that way.

That's a good idea, dunno why i didn't think of it, it was hidden and in a different location, why microsoft mess about with temporary files i don't know, anyway looks like it was a false positive, even copying and rescanning with malwarebytes didn't detect anything a second time.

No it isn't, and Microsoft are still supporting it and will be supporting it for some time to come (Silverlight 5 will be out towards the end of the year IIRC).
