I've just setup Mambo for testing but I'm finding that it puts all content in a tables. Infact, it uses a lot of tables for layout, but my website heavily uses CSS for layout. Does anyone know how can I stop Mambo generating tables for content?

Thanks,
Dan

It does use CSS for customisation and I was very surprise at how much you can actually do with it, but for some reason insted of using divs with classes it uses tables with classes. Are there any hacks or modules to stop this happening?

Thanks mate :)
I've been speaking to a few people on there and it seems like a common problem, but it should be resolved by the next version. Not sure when that's coming out though :(
Thanks again,
Dan

Its a widely known issue with Mambo. It might be worth looking at joomla. Basically most of the people behind mambo quit and started a new outfit called joomla which has a huge developer base. And I know that they are working on a table free version of joomla.

Let me know how you get on

Joomla looks a lot better (in the sense of the larger community) but it seems to still use tables to wrap up main content. I'll download it and give it a try. But I can see the same problem happening as it still wraps main content in a single cell table with a style attached, and when you put one of these in a container next to a div with a float, it overlaps :(

Yeah it still does it at the moment, but I know they are working on removing that from future releases. So, go with it for now and then upgrade when the time comes, that should be easier than switching from mambo.

I love joomla/mambo, so so so flexible
