MAME'rs in here please

I have decided that i am building a little itx box to run MAME. I want it to be automated as possible so would like it to boot up and straight into a MAME GUI then be able to pick the game with my X-Arcade joystick and play.. I dont even mind if its a Linux setup either...

Specs are:

E4500 Cpu
Intel Flycreek Mobo (Using the onboard audio/video)
2gb DDR2 800
60Gb 5400Rpm 2.5" HDD
Connected to a 46" 1080p LCD TV

help would be appreciated..

Onboard video and stock E4500 may well struglle with some MAME games at 1080p - my laptop with 9600mGT struggles with a few MAME games (Marvell vs Capcom, most of the ol' Streetfighter games) at just 13XX*7XX, chugging at the most inorportune times..

Maybe MAME emulation has improved since I last tried ~9 months ago though, and now has proper GPU acceleration

Cheers matey, I am not really into those games but xp64 is supposed to have a nice hike in performance as well...
