Sounds similar to what happened at Bristol City a few seasons back

In our case a man named Nick Randall had a heart attack in his seat, and despite the best efforts of the emergency crews, Nick died whilst the the game was going on :(

He had a wife and three boys. The fans of City (and Rovers fair play to them) raised enough money for Sharon, his wife to take the kids on holiday. Sorry i've gone on, was involved in the fund raising quite a bit, needless to say it was a very sad day at our football club.

Yikes, maybe it wasnt innocent

The 30-year-old fan, who was thought to have been hit on the head with a bin, was found unconscious. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

The football fan was initially treated at the scene for a head injury and cardiac arrest, then taken to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire.

But Staffordshire Police today said the man died in hospital just before 2am today.

A 25-year-old man from Preston has been arrested over the incident.

A spokesman said: 'A 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at 1.55am this morning at University Hospital North Staffordshire.

'The circumstances are being fully investigated and a 25-year-old man remains in custody and is helping police with their inquiries.'

The last few away games has seen a return of the head the ball element just wanting to get tickets against Burnley away. These people are after one thing and that is to cause aggro, It's becoming a joke. We've had a good reputation as away fans over the years, but these morons are beginning to tarnish that. I can see rovers fans being banned from Turfmoor because of this.

RIP. :(

I read elsewhere that there were 2 rival blackburn gangs at the game who had an altercation in the concourse. Hit with a bin :(

I still can't believe it, he was a mad Rovers fan who has left behind his son and three brothers. He was just like the rest of us, a football fan, plain and simple, in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I just started a thread but got directed here.

I was in the Blackburn stand - My 1st match in 10 years, as I live near Stoke so cba with home games and for £25 at Stoke I thought why not (They were AWFUL tbh and deserved to lose!).

It happened about 10 metres behind where I was sat. They would not let us out near the end, so we went down to the front and said if you don't let us out we will climb onto the pitch - They let us all out:)

Scary stuff that someone was murdered just behind me though. From just after half time no-one was allowed near the junkfood shop, toilets or out of the stadium.

I was sitting in my season ticket seat with the stoke fans in the Seat stand yesterday, which is shared with the away fans. I saw pretty much every steward in the ground head towards the concourse where the away fans were just after half time. Seems kinda strange that all of this went on less than 30 metres from where i was sitting :(

So it turns out the bin was being headed by the fans?

According to the LET (Lancashire Evening Times) the bin was being thrown around by a small group of our fans and hit the fella on the back of the head. I've seen people on 606 claiming they were using it for head tennis and he clipped a corner rather than a plastic side and I've also heard rumours of fights. Long and short of it is that no-one knows what actually happened.
