BIKER Jeremy Parrott is set to become the first person prosecuted for speeding because of a video posted on YouTube.

Parrott, 37, filmed himself — with a camera fixed behind his windshield — allegedly speeding at 100mph.

Police were made aware of the video on the website and traced Parrott because he was filmed leaving his front door in Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset. He was quizzed and freed on bail. Cops expect charges of dangerous driving to be brought within weeks.

A police spokesman said: “This man was driving through a built-up area, past a housing estate and a school, at up to 100mph. He risks a long ban.

“This is an example to other road users thinking of putting videos like this on the internet. What is humorous to some could be fatal to others.”

This is why you edit out plates and dont start from your own house

Wont come to anything

He would be stupid not to challenge it. Video could be doctored, problem with the bike, all kinds of stuff. The Police have to witness the speed from video evidence for it to be admissable.

If he was riding at silly speeds in built-up areas, past a school etc. then he might well deserve to get what's coming to him. It depends what 'up to 100' means. Did he do that on open roads but only do 30 past schools, or what.

nothing will come of it.

no 1 - digital evidence is inadmissable in court (unless it is from a speed camera )

no 2 - how could they possibly know his speedo is correct.

Stupid for the police to even waste their time.
Although if he is hooning about at 100mph so he can look cool on google video's in a built up area then he needs the book thrown at him! However that is probably exaggerated as these things normally are.

I would prefer to see the video before I commented on what he's charged with. I he was doing ~100mph in residential areas then yes, he deserves everything he gets.

Maybe so if he was actually innocent, but surely trying to wiggle out of something he's obviously guilty of is going to make things worse and land him in a bigger mess.

"There was a problem with the bike, I wasn't actually speeding your honour."

"Police have examined the bike and your recording equipment and found it be working correctly."

".....Photoshopped your honour.."

"I beg your pardon?"

:D

That'll be quite upsetting to the people who spend money on digitally recorded CCTV systems then. And the police officers i give the recordings to.

No 3 - It was published by the sun who talk dribble every day...

It wont happen, theres no way to prove it was him riding or his bike or doing the speed or any numbers of factors you'd need to fill. All they know is *someone* posted a video of a bike that looks like its speeding and started from his drive. Could be anyone.

Maybe ill go park on a random drive and take a video of me speeding from there and then post in on youtube.
