Man finally finds world's largest CRT telly

He shipped it with Evri and they threw it over his garden fence and smashed it.

The worst thing was, he was in the whole time and they didn't even knock the door or ring the bell!

Fun fact, my mates Dad had one of these TV's, we used to play Goldeneye on it, each player pretty much had a 14" TV to themselves :P

I'm sure I read about/watched this before.

Back when i was not long out of school, so 1997-1998, CRT's were still the only realistic TV or monitor option. I worked at Currys and we had loads of them, but the biggest, and heaviest, were the Toshiba 36" CRT's. These things must have weighed easily 100lb each and were a definite two person job to move around and lift. To the point when we were setting up the store before it opened and had a ratchet lift purely for the TV's alone to get them into the REALLY HEAVY DUTY shelving. One piece of shelving had not been installed properly and one of the big Sony Trinitron's fell from about 6 feet off the ground and landed, screen first. It made this kind of weird 'WHUMPF!' noise when i realised the vacuum tube had imploded, rather than exploded. The air then started to sparkle a little and we were all told to move back, lest we breath in this fine, silver mist that coated the inside of the screen. Price of the TV that was dropped was about £800. A huge amount back then. 16:9 screens were just starting to be a thing and we had a little cinema room in the corner of the store with a big TV and surround speakers setup too!
