I'm wondering how people manage multiple ecosystems as I am getting a little frustrated I can't seem to find the balance to get the best of all worlds.
My current hardware:
- Pixelbook
- Google Wifi
- Google home x4
- One plus 5T <- just died
- Chromecast x2
- Shield TV
- iPad mini
I use Google for my software needs (I have a domain that I've linked to Google):
- Chrome
- Gmail
- Calendar
- Keep
- Maps
There are a few shared ones I use:
- Spotify
- WhatsApp
- Netflix
- Amazon Prime Video
As you can see, its primarily Google with the outlier of the iPad. My phone has just died so my first thought was - get another Android phone, and wanting the best Android experience, I thought the Pixel was the best shout - but it looks awful compared to the iPhone 11 Pro. Google can't seem to make decent Tablets/Phones - and the OEMs never seem to have as good an integration with the OS (hence why I got the iPad mini)
On the other side, dealing with Chromecasts on the iPad/iPhone is a little slower, loading a device in Google Home takes 1 or 2 seconds...it's little things like this that make it really frustrating. Integration between Google assistant and the Shield TV (which is Android TV) seems bad aswell...
I was looking at the Apple ecosystem again recently and it looks far superior to Google's integration. I'm half tempted to pick up an iPhone 11 Pro as my next phone and replace the Chromecast's with Apple TVs and get rid of the Google Wifi/Homes all together...I think I'd miss my Chromebook too much to part with it....but then I wonder, am I going to struggle as I will be using all Google's services.
Very disjointed thoughts I know, but I am wondering how others deal with this? Does anyone have a different balance that works for them?
