Any good?
What about any good for £40?

Also, what head would you guys recommend with them?

Will need to handle from a Compact to a 5D
Thought about 3way, but like the flexibility of a ball head.

For £40 I would say go for it!

Manfrotto don't make a bad tripod AFIK and this one is somewhere in the middle of their range as far as price goes. I would say that it is probably slightly more suited to "out and about" than studio use but still a fair all-rounder. It is certainly light enough that you will not feel that it has to be left at home due to its weight as long as you get a decent strap for it.

As far as the head goes, you will really have to have a try to see what suits you and the use you will put it to. I have never really got on with ball heads but that is probably due to the fact that I never tried one until I had been using tripods with pan and tilt heads for a great many years.

Thats a good price.
If your after ball heads, then the 488RC4
Is worth looking at. Independant Pan, so you can lock the ball then pan with no problems. 2 spirit levels and a huge monster of a top plate.

Picked up the legs today, now looking for a good head.

Had a good play with a couple. Really like the pistol grip ones, but think they'd be a little awkward for panning.

Still thinking that something like the 390RC would be good for me.

Will have to have a better play tomorrow morning.
