It's in Early Access, and clearly in need of finishing, I think it'll get more attention again when it hits its full release. Certainly, that's what I'm waiting for.

I played a few hours of it last year and really enjoyed it, but it was pretty bare bones. I ended up installing Banished with some mods to scratch the itch instead, I'll definitely return to Manor Lords but I'm waiting for a more complete game.

A fair bit has been added from what I gather and there's frequent updates/fixes, the last being Jan 30th. That said, it's the sort of game I'll happily put a lot of time into and I'd rather wait until it's mostly finished.

It's more or less in the state I would expect it to be at this point in development, at a guess it's 2-3 years away from leaving early access.
