Manslaughter by txt.

Of course you shouldn't walk by, that guy is a ****. But I don't think being a **** should be punishable by prison.

If you believe he deserves prison then answer me this.

Where is the supposed threat to society that this guy poses, and what purpose does putting him in prison serve?

It doesn't.

If anything it will make him worse when he gets out.

I've seen the texts, or at least those available in the public domain, and I think there's a line crossed when he begins to have second thoughts and instead of allowing him to change his mind she talked him back into it. At least that's how I read the interaction between them during the texts available in the public domain. Clearly the jury felt the same.

This woman hasn't just neglected to inform the authorities of his intention to harm/kill himself, she has been an active participant in his decision to making. A decision making process which resulted in his death.

Personally I fail to see what this has to do with free speech.

Basically its assisted suicide which in the UK is definitely illegal. Not sure about the US but i suspect its the same.

Although i can see the free speech argument (you can say what you want, and other peoples actions are up to them) I don't think that should override someone actively encouraging and enabling someone to commit suicide.

I think it's significantly different to assisted suicide. Assisted suicide is when one person freely chooses suicide and another person helps them do it. In this case, she badgered him into suicide over and over again, finishing with ordering him to buy the stuff to kill himself and then to finish killing himself after he'd started and then changed his mind about it.
