Hi guys I previously got away with setting up my devices with ethernet cables straight to my bt hub, but now my son has moved back home and took over 2 ethernet ports on the Bt router so the other two available ports has a sky q connection and that leaves one left but here is the problem, I have a gaming pc, ps5 and a Xbox series x so 3 doesn’t go into one, I have heard about ethernet switches but also heard about them interfering with the router with occasionally restarting hubs or not working, what do you guys do for situations where you have many devices that need to be wired to the hub but not enough ports ? Don’t really want to use wifi with devices that need fast connection all the time.

Sorry guys abit of a novice regarding which switch is needed, all I know is my maximum download speed I can get is around 60mb if that helps ?

Thankyou for all your helpfull replies, so the best option is to takeout all ethernet cables that are in the router and put them all into a switch which leaves just the switch cable occupying only one ethernet port on the back of the hub ?

Hi guys have the tp switch coming today, does the main plug from the switch need to be plugged into the wall like routers to get the maximum power or can they be put into a surge protector block ?

Oh since day one I was allways told I needed to put routers into wall sockets, so for over 20 years I could have stuck a Bt router into a surge block and not worry about any dropout etc ?

Ok will use the double wall socket, and have a surge protector in each one.

thanks guys.
