After searching for a car i will "settle down" with for the next few years, looking at various things like the new Focus, a C2 VTS (bursts of insanity), and after speaking to a few people on here decided to go and look at a Fabia vRS.

You should have seen the smile on my face when i started driving this thing. Priceless. You could have knocked the wind out of me and i would still of had a huge grin on my face. After some incredibly friendly, relaxed chats about my options with the sales chap i decided to go for it - brand new in Black Magic with cruise control. I picked her up yesterday, and have been out and about in it ever since.

When i picked it up it had 0.7miles on the clock, now its got just over 150 :D

One of the best things about it - it did'nt rain on me at all!

This is mainly a thread to thank you for steering me in the right direction (no pun intended!), to go from a Smart ForTwo to this is immense to say the least. She's due for a good wash and photo session tommorrow, where i will be sure to post some of them up here.

Oh - and an extra £70 on my insurance to go from a Smart ForTwo to a Fabia vRS...

:) :p :D

Well done on buying a good car. Much better than the smart for everything but fitting into tiny parking spaces and looking gay.

Gay? No, i was normally very UN-happy-looking when driving that shopping basket - especially when i had the unfortunate pothole and the dreaded "corner". The Smart did'nt even fit into tiny spaces if im honest - all the places i ever go to either have spaces or don't, there was never a small one ready for a Smart to be parked in. Having been trying to find problems to report to dealer...struggling at the moment

:D

Cheers for your positive comments guys - i am going to have to wait until Tuesday to get some proper photos as my girlfriend has no decent camera available....

It basically looks like every other Black Magic vRS - but i will get some photos up just to try and show off a bit :p

Can't wait until work tommorrow, all i am going to hear is "but...but...its a Skoda". ;)

Not just yet im afraid, these were all taken at my girlfriends place with my mobile - im now back at home and can use my "proper" camera, so will do that when its light after work tommorrow....for some reason i just had the urge to get some photos up to show you guys, i know it looks like every other vRS but im really proud :)

It does fit in, but leaves an inch or so at the back and the front is jammed into a pillow - which is just a little tighter than i would have liked! Going to clear it out a bit tommorrow and hopefully make a tad more room.

Its incredibly fun. Good lord i smile every time i get in it. Im still running it in so am taking it very easy, but on the journey home today i thought id give it a little testing out and its so easy to reach 100mph its ridiculous...people have no chance to speed up when i overtake as by the time they have spotted me behind them im already in front of them! Seriously though - if you don't beleive me take one for a test drive...it might look like a sheep, but its a fox under the bonnet.

The shock on some peoples face is fantastic. Some monkey in a Clio Sport (172?) tried to race me at some lights today. He's revving his engine and looking at me, and as soon as the lights hit amber he was off. I was taking it easy as i wan running it in, but i still took him without problem, the thing just seems to keep going and going and going and going with my head pinned in my headrest the whole time. I admit - i sound very over excited, but its hard not to be :D

The interior is decent imo, as some other people have mentioned it might not be as far up there as some - but suits my needs perfectly and is incredibly solid...is very hard to scratch or scuff aswell.

Haha, i expected some comments relating to that part of my post. I was incredibly over excited last night and have calmed down since, i think i was in "over brag" mode.

The actual story didn't involve traffic lights (there were many occasions that did, but none that involved a Clio 172/182), said occasion was coming off a roundabout and i was already at around 30mph or so, he was doing a fair bit less as was coming from a different direction and as i already had the higher speed i left him for dust. Is that more beleiveable? :p

6th :p

Watching him get further and further back was nice i can tell you. Im pretty sure he was trying though, as i noticed i was going a wee bit over the speed limit and needed to leave at the next exit so pulled into the left hand lane behind other cars and slowed to 70mph...5 seconds later the guy zooms past me with his mate sort of looking at me with that sort of "we had you pal" face as they went past and i turned left.

Im not too worried Pug, as mentioned above 0-60 timings don't matter too much in the real world. If it helps, i have read many people acheiving much lower than Skoda's conservative 9.6 seconds. Ill be honest - i cant remember where it was or what the exact times were, but the lower was around 7 seconds and the highest was just a shy over 8.

Does that make any difference to me? Not really.

It's a hell of a lot better than my Smart car, and if i take it easy i can do a similar amount of MPG, whilst the Clio 172 that beat me at the traffic lights is now refuelling :p :) :D

So interested in getting one of these cars. How much it cost you and what extras did you get mate? Dealership okay for a test drive etc.? How about haggling prices? Also whats your insurance like?

Sorry for all the questions but the FabiaVrs has become a good runner for my next car ;) .

No worries. It set me back around £11,400 after some good haggling from £12,385 (base price not including metallic paint), which means i saved about £1,000 on the base price and got the metallic paint and cruise control for free. Also got a good deal on my part ex.

Dealer was lovely and happy to let me have a test drive in a vRS - was already happy with them as a lot of dealers i had been going to didnt even have the car i wanted to test drive, so was already onto a winner.

Insurance group 9 - it cost me an extra £80 to go from a Smart ForTwo to one of these, how crazy is that?!

The vRS is a 5-door only im afraid.

Xenons? Pfft. No thanks.
