Hi,

I'm just wondering if the map network drive of Windows still slows browsing My Computer down if the mapped drive is down?

Thanks,
Craig.

Hm...

Well mine seems fine, but have only recently installed Vista so can't say what it used to be like.

To me though it feels as fast browsing as it does in windows XP (I have one drive mapped)

*edit*

Ignore, I didn't read your question correctly, and didn't realize you meant if the network source was disabled... If no one else replies I will shutdown my server later on and let you know how Vista performs :)

It doesn't, or at least not more than an absolute split-second. It's certainly not detectable by me anyway. I think it checks it at boot-up, and if it's down there, it remembers that until you try to connect to it (even when you switch mapped PC on it lists it as disconnected). My mapped HTPC is barely ever on when I'm using my main PC.
