When I map a network drive from my PC on Vista to a shared hard drive on my download pc on XP SP2 (mapped Z: to \\download\g) I can see all the files and create new files and folders but I cannot delete or modify any for some reason!! I get a error saying you need permission to perform this action

Anyone know why this might be??

I have been on the download pc and shared the hard drive (g) and gave rights to allow network users to change my files but it still won't let me delete files from the mapped drive (z)on my pc to the hard drive (g)on the download pc.

This is further complicated as I can go to my network places and see the share (\\download\g) through there and I can delete files that way!!!

I have the exact same setup to another drive in the download pc and I can delete files from that mapped drive!

Anyone any idea's or suggestions to get it so I can delete/modify files from the problem mapped drive (z)??

have you got the same user name on both machines??

ie, matty??

if so specifically add that username to the folder your trying to modify. give it full control. (and as with everything in windows, give it a reboot, just to be sure)

it could be some sort of parent inherited share thingy..
