I've recently reinstalled my Windows 7 OS and I've got a Synology Diskstation NAS which used to be nicely mapped as the "S" drive and was accessible every time I went into "Computer"

The trouble is, for some reason, the drive still shows up but I have to re-enter the username and password in order to view what's on the drive!?!?

I've clicked on "Remember my credentials" but every time I reboot my PC, I end up having to input them each time!?!?

Has anyone got any idea how to save the right login info so I don't have to do this every time?? (I know it can be done because that's how it worked before!!)

Thanks for any help guys...

Check the Credential Manager in Control Panel and make nothing is in there that could be interfering.

It could also be worth mapping the drive from the command line using net use.

All there is in the credential manager is my laptop (on which this works fine btw!) and a "NETTOP-PC" which I'm sure was the name assigned to an old Lenovo PC that I was using as a media centre before getting my NUC!

If I log in to the NAS by inputting the user name and password, the Diskstation pops up in the credential manager but vanishes on a reboot! (which I'm imagining is the root of the problem!?!?)

Regards doing anything with the "command line" - I'd be lost at the first step as I'd have no idea what to do!

Thanks for the reply btw...

*edit*

If I click to save the login credentials and then refresh the credential manager the Diskstation pops up but the "persistence" is noted as "Logon Session" but I can't see any way to change this!?!?

Also, having removed the "NETTOP-PC" - refreshing the CM brings it back in again!?!?

Log into the drive, then right click on drive in file explorer, then click on the security tab and check your user has full control over the NAS box.

Thanks for the reply but I seem to have cracked it!

I right clicked and disconnected the mapped path to the NAS drive and then clicked to re-map the drive again, ticking "Reconnect at logon" but leaving "Connect using different credentials" unticked.

This put my Diskstation in the "Windows Credentials" section but still listed the persistence as lasting for the logon session only!

I then manually added a Windows credential by specifying the network path (in my case \\Diskstation\ds213) and put in the username and password.

This then appears to have replaced the temporary persistence with "Enterprise" - rebooted the PC and to my amazement, I didn't then have to re-input the username and password!!!

YAY!!!!! :D

Hope this helps anyone else having the problem! (as well as remind myself next time I forget the trick! :p)
