Hi folks, I've been given the dubious task at work of plotting some geographic data we have, which consists of a label, then an easting and northing co-ordinate for each point. I was wondering what the most appropriate package would be just to produce a simple map of the data - its all from the UK. In effect all I need is a 'pin map' if thats the correct term!
Thanks for any suggestions.

Not sure how appropriate for the task this would be, but you could try Openoffice.org Calc and put the data into a chart as you would in MS Excel. I would try it with a sample set of data first to make sure you can produce the sort of chart you want.

probably using a sledgehammer to crack a nut here but I seem to remember that IDL has a lot of geophysical/remote sensing mapping features, including being able to draw line plots onto maps. Pricey though :)
