Hi guys, just a quick question, I have no intention of going optical or multispeaker anytime soon - I like my JPW floorstanders but would like to swap my Kenwood AV receiver now as the volume dial has started crackling a bit during volume adjustment (a sign of component age?) - other than this it has served me very well and provided me with good headphone amplification too for several years.

I heard the Marantz pm6010ose is regarded as one of the few amps that have good headphone amps onboard and it meets my requirements.

The seller says it has been used very little and in VGC, I know it cost £240 odd when released in 99 sometime too, it is one of these:

Does anyone have one and can comment on it? if all is good I will pick it up today from the seller for £35 :)

Cheers!

Edit*

Problem solved! looks like the Ohm selector has been changed by someone, switched it back and all good again!

as that the KI signature? If so it's a bargain, probably is anyway at £35 so I'd snap it up anyway.

Hmm the ad states OSE not KI so I'd assume not, Marantz list both the OSE and KI under the 6010 series.

I'll make the call tomorrow most likely!

I also have had an offer on a pair of mint condition Tannoy M3 floorstanders in cherry wood finish - £100 is what is being asked for them and I'm willing to stretch to those to replace my speakers but I'm just wondering which one will provide the most benefit!

I'm hedging the amp because a good amp will bring out the best of speakers - I know the Marantz is higher quality in regards to audio quality and components than my Kenwood and at £35 what the hell am I still asking if I should get it!

It's the OSE model, you can tell by the "Original SE" above the volume pot (had to squint to make it out ;)), it's the only difference on the bezel.

For £35, it's a steal. I bought mine new in '01 and it was well worth the £240. Picked up a KI Sig for £85 a year ago, and the improvement wasn't really worth the money.
