March Budget 2016

Now, if they removed VED entirely and just put an extra 5p on fuel, then it becomes a non-issue as everyone is taxed entirely down to how fuel efficient (and consequently how polluting) their car is. The biggest fuel users - be they low-milage, inefficient drivers with big engines or high mileage drivers - pay the most money full stop.

EXACTLY my view on fuel duty. It's common sense to me....

Might not be happy with an extra 16 or 17 p a litre though, would you?
I'd say haulage companies certainly wouldn't be.

Initial shock but overall lower cost. Haulage companies with anything bigger than cars need looking into to make them efficient. Pay more in fuel, less on tax. Balance it.

Why would 'more money' not be encouragement to succeed but 'even more money' would? The idea that people are getting to £42k and then just kicking back is quite funny.

Because I'm guessing there is more to it than what we see. Tories never do things for others that do not benefit themselves. ;)

Which is just being tax efficient....It didn't stop you refusing the job paying into the higher tax band though did it

So it's just a stupid statement from helpimcrap, which unfortunately a lot if people seem to think is right

I thank you. :D

I don't particularly care about that bit so I just take it on face value. :)

Overall though the budget could have been worse I guess - I dislike the disability side that IBS did. Self defeating cut.

Sugar tax is good as is the education to increase maths and stuff.

Making academies - will that improve education?

I think we should challenge George Osborne, Iain Duncan Smith and a few others to spend a week in a minimum wage job. And I'd get IDS to spend it in a wheelchair....

Spend a week in someone's shoes and then you will truly see.

Nothing mentioned about the Government proposing to sell the remaining shares in RBS at a loss of almost £22 billion – recouping barely half the £45.5bn poured in to save the bank from collapsing in 2008.

You mean George Osborne has failed at something else?

Give the man a bonus.... Oh....

I used to like David Cameron however George Osborne has made him detestable by association which is sad. The budget was ropey as well to the benefit of the rich however was there anything in there that would impact on smaller business owners?
