TBH it looks very amaturish. Look at their press release -

A mobile number, and a free googlemail email address? And the PR is written in Courier New, not really in a very good style. And lack of signatures/no real domain/not many comments ... sure this is gonna happen lol?

Yeah, they do look amatuers... perhaps the people who are arranging it aren't professional protesters...

Didn't you know, freedom of expression is defined as "deliberately setting out to offend other people for no readily apparent reason"

Come back to me when we have more than a couple of cartoons whose sole distinguishing feature is that they are designed to be offensive and I may actually care.

It's also worth noting that there is NO law banning reproduction of the cartoons or anything along those lines, the cartoons simple aren't worth reprinting because they are, quite frankly, rubbish.

Does that mean anything? If you think such a response is about nothing more than a cartoon you are mistaken.

Perhaps as weeks go by it becomes easier for people to rationalise the concept of a threat, to dismiss it and create innapropriate analogies and associations which diminish it and allow a person to believe no action is required. I do remember a lot of silence immediately after the protests from people who now mock or attempt to confuse the issues we are faced with.

I am curious about the event, about its impact, reaction and support - it is a new concept and one that has been brewing for a long time. I think it will send an unfortunate message when an unforuntate message is needed due to apathy and fear from the majority of people, and poor management from our government.
