I'm surprised by the Wii number. Maybe the bubble has burst? And the PS2, wow, still THE console to own. Both PS3 and 360 sales are probably as to be expected for one of slowest months of the year. Over-all though it's Nintendo's party.

Reasonably good software sales for the 360 though God of War II steals the show. edit: though as I've just read these only include 5 (yes 5!) days of Guitar Hero II sales so that's pretty outstanding.

And finally no one has bought an xbox!

edit:

Seems to be a big drop in sales all round for a 5 week month, well apart from the DS this month in the states. The PS2 is selling loads, i wonder if this is why sony dont lower the price of the PS3. It makes a nice profit from hardware and software sales for the PS2 and i think this softens the blow of the PS3 probably not performing as well as sony hoped. Maybe when PS2 sales start dropping off Sony will react with a PS3 price cut, if that makes sense!

Aye it's interesting which ever way you look at it.

On the one hand when compared to Feb ...

Adjusted to take into account extra week... (taken from Parl on NeoGaf).

DS: DOWN 16%
Wii: DOWN 39%
PS2: DOWN 24%
360: DOWN 30%
PSP: DOWN 18%
GBA: DOWN 13%
PS3: DOWN 18%

But then again ... http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=15870&page=2

NPD: Total Game Industry Sales Up 33% in March; DS Tops All (Again)

What a month and first quarter it's been for the video game industry this year. Year-to-date, industry sales are tracking ahead 54 percent!

So for the industry it's a win.

Nothing too surprising in the hardware sales for this time of year, although i did expect more from the Wii. PS2 sales have been boosted by God of War 2 probably.

As for the software sales, impressive. God of War 2 and Guitar Hero II selling a nice healthy number. As Guitar Hero II has only been out a short while i get the feeling that it will figure highly in next months chart.

Can't believe the DS Lite is still selling so much, I wonder how many DS Lites have been sold worldwide now.
PS2 still outselling it's next gen counterpart and also MS competitor... When will it end? Surely this is just down to GoW2?

Amazing what a Pokemon game can do. Of course that's probably not the sole reason but I bet the anticipation of it arriving has shifted a few.

Well the game has hit over half a million on pre-orders alone which would make it number 2 on that chart if it was actually released, nintendo are predicting a new period of pokemon craze akin to the first one :o

I'd not be surprised to see over a million copies shifted in the first month.

I'm one of them and i just hope its not sold out :D

Not sure if the number is limited by the supply. Wii still sold out everywhere.

Yep the Wii figure is supply constrained.
Sites that list what shops are getting stock are still busy as hell in the US.
Should see higher figures next month i think as Ninty are ramping up production.
