Just been out for dinner at Marcus Wareing and I've got to say it was excellent; the food is good (as you'd expect) but the service was fantastic (attentive and friendly without being intrusive). My first time there and certainly won't be my last.

In similar places I've found it's all about the food,'but this was more about the experiance as a whole.

Champagne cocktails in the lounge
Sesame croutons with roast aubergine dip
Langustines on black pudding
Honey and potato bread
Tomato soup with basil foam
Roast suckling pig with pork scratchings and chorizo purée
Selection of cheeses
Hand made chocolates
Chocolate moelleaux
Port
Jasmine tea
Nice light Bordeaux

How much did it cost?

For the two of us it was a shade under £450, including tip.

Was it a smaller place?

Went to Bernares and was really disappointed. To big, far to many staff and just not a nice atmosphere. Although the food was nice, far to price for what it was and the price of the wine taster was even worse.

That menu sounds amazing though. Did the Langustines come with a sauce?

It was much smaller than I expected it to be and we were in a smaller side room containing only 5 tables for two. We arrived at 6.30 so it was nicer to be in a more intimate area rather than marooned in the main dining room. The main dining room probably contained about 25 larger tables, but I must admit that I wasn't counting.

The langoustines were on a black pudding and orange puree.

Edit: Just noticed the 'What Restaurant did you eat in last night thread'; probably should have posted in there.
