Can honestly say ive never really liked the mario games since they went 3d, annoying as i loved the first 4, mario 64 looked good but it never really felt like a mario game to me, bought mario sunshine got bored of that after getting around 17 shines. :(

I know its a small video so bit hard to tell, but that looks really good for a Wii game, graphically I mean

Well the mario games have never been about polygon count, just bright vibrant colours, i think people are forgetting that the wii is pretty much on par with the original xbox, granted most of the games graphically on the wii have been very basic but id expect them to look a lot better when theyre designed for the ground up and not ps2 ports with tacked on wii controls.

The Wii is more than twice as powerful as the XBox. The games so far have either been lazy ass ports, games that haven't aimed for good graphics, or just slightly updated titles originally destined for the Gamecube.
The Wii is capable of some amazing looking graphics, not on par with the 360 or PS3 but much more so than the GC or Xbox.

This game looks like it will be amazing, i want it now. Game of the Year right there in that trailer i rekon :)

I thought that about the last 3 of Nintendo's big efforts.. unfortunately none were.

What are you on about? The GC was more graphically advanced than the original XBox, and the Wii is more powerful than the GC.

Naw! GC had a 485Mhz CPU, xbox had 733Mhz CPU. Obviously that doesn't count as the only thing but xbox had better components all round. Though games like Resi 4 might make you think otherwise.

The Xbox was more powerful than the GC but not by much.
You can't quoite the CPU speed, the GC used a PowerPC architecture where as the Xbox has a PIII Celeron (Coppermine). I'd expect the PowerPC architecture does much more work per clock than the celeron.

Which ones?
Zelda was many peoples/publications 2006 Game of the Year. Purely going on gameplay many people rate it as one of the best games of all time. The only reason it lost out to GoW in a lot of awards is the graphics. Sad really but not unexpected.

As for the other two, I am not sure which ones you are talking about. Mario Sunshine probably and maybe Wind Waker? I have not played either so can't comment.

The cube was not more graphically advanced than the xbox, powerwise the cube was maybe around half-3/4 as powerful (on paper) but as stated games like resident evil 4 really made amazing use of the power it had.

It pushed more polygons in a launch game than the XBox ever did.
