Mario games on the PC?

You can get emulators for the older consoles right up to the game cube which will run the older mario games but I'm not sure if such stuff is allowed to be discussed here in depth (mods plesae delete if even what I've said here is too much)
 
Yeah i know about emulators but wondered if there were any PC ones. Looks like it may be my only choice though as the link above shows they are all based on Mario rather than being any of the original games.
 
which mario games are you wanting to play?

all of the older ninty consoles can be had pretty cheaply nowdays second hand. you can pickup a gamecube for around £35 (probably not including a game), and the same for the NES and SNES
 
My kids have pretty much all of the marios on their Wii so any of them really. They aren't getting on with the fan created ones.
 
OK legally i should be covered for new games, how does it work with downloaded content through the shop though?
