Mario Kart-like game on PS3?

The other half really likes Mario Kart, but I've got a PS3...Are they any games that offer similar gameplay on this console?

You're probably looking at either of the Sonic racing games that were released, they are both pretty good.

Or you could try Crash Team Racing (Crash Bandicoot), think that's available on PSN to download.

Probably the best match you will get on a PS3 would be Sonic & Sega Allstars racing transformed.
Nothing really comes close gameplay wise though .. imo

Cheers guys. I've grabbed demos of F1 Race Stars and Sonic, unfortunately LBP Karting doesn't seem to have a demo available which is annoying. I'll give those two a go though, thanks!

There is a reason why Mario Kart 8 was so eagerly anticipated. Its because nothing else comes close to Mario Kart unfortunately.

F1 Race Stars isn't worth the time it takes to download the demo, I wouldn't bother with it. I've heard good things about Sonic though.
