Marriage counselling?

A service? How do you mean? Are you not better with just finding someone local?

We went years ago. I had been an absolute arse with a girl at work which caused a lot of issues (obviously). Would we have been ok without counseling? It's impossible to say, but luckily we are still together and so if you're thinking about it then i'd just go for it.

How far did you get 1st, 2nd, 3rd base or the home run?

Think about whether you want marriage counselling or individual counselling
Depending on why you are looking for it, individual followed by couples counselling may be better

No advice on where to obtain counselling, but I know my oldest friend had nothing but good to say about his experience.

Personally, I had to hit the depths of depression before that caused us to talk about why our relationship had become so apathetic.

Either way, talking is good, if you need someone to help make that productive rather than antagonistic then I'd suggest counselling, if you haven't talked, you might just need to find a way to do so.

Has anyone had any success with counselling? Can someone recommend a service?

Hi,

Just joined here after trying to find out about other non-related commerce.
Counselling vs Relationship counselling (like RELATE - the organisation which has branches) are distinct. They are regulated and you can look up a local directory for HCPC (Healthcare Professionals Council) for guidance. All counsellors will have a professional body and accreditation from a recognised body: some forms of counselling take a few years which are distinct from online diplomas, which can be purchased within a year.

It's not the same as psychotherapy either - if you search in the UKCP directory https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/find-a-therapist/
it helps a little however recommendation from first hand experience is usually helpful.

I'm sorry I don't know anyone in your area. As others mentioned - it is online mostly however likely to change next month. Relationship counselling vs couples therapy sometimes recommends a block of individual therapy (not the same as counselling either). Being clear with your aims and goals from therapy or counselling is important: Rogerian counselling approaches (person centred) are very different from Interpersonal or Relational Therapy approaches - again very distinct from simpler problem solving approaches.

All the best.
