Martian bugs found on meteorite

Asteroid hits Mars
Debris from Mars gets kicked up out of it's atmosphere into space
Debris finds it's way to Earth.

I think. Hasn't happened in a while anyway.

Quite amazing the power of an impact to blast pieces of a planet free from orbit. :)

Then how do we know it came from Mars?

I saw a documentary not long ago on this, and they always find them in Antarctica. There are no rocks there, because of a huge layer of ice covering all of them (obviously) so any rocks found on the surface have fallen there.
They didn't go into a massive amount of detail on how they know but its very very rare, and this specimen was found way before 1996 and ignored as a standard meteorite, until it was later examined randomly by another scientist who tagged it as being from Mars (somehow, im no exogeologist)

new electron microscope technology has apparently shown them in greater detail/shown they aren't containments or something.

Reading the daily fail. it doesn't seem to add anything new to the old debate. i will remain skeptical until these structures are found on mars and proved to be microfossils. although that is just daily fail will be very interesting to see what nasa says when it releases the report.
