Statement from Ipswich Town FC..

The Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Town ‘keeper, Marton Fulop, following his battle with cancer.
Everybody at Ipswich Town would like to pass on their condolences and our thoughts are with Marton’s friends and family at this immensely difficult time.

Only 32 - RIP Marton

It was cancer that killed him then? I thought he'd had his tumor removed and was clear to resume playing?

No age to go, such a shame.

Yeah, cancer that killed him. Very sad indeed. :(

He had a tumour removed in 2013, and was cleared to carry on his career. I think he announced he was going to take a break, but never played again professionally after that.

Saw him play vs Wolves when he was at Ipswich. Made a ridiculous save and the game finished 0-0. Solid keeper. Wish we still had him at Ipswich. RIP.

I couldn't believe this when I heard it.....he was on loan to us (Leicester) from Sunderland a few years back and was by far our best player in an otherwise poor side.

I seem there was some kind of forum petition to persuade the club to raise funds to sign him.
