Martyn's Computer Build Summer 2007

I'd never skimp on RAM. It's the main thing holding most overclocks back. Also you'd definitely notice the difference between 666mhz and 800mhz RAM at stock.
In the end I went for the more expensive RAM, simply because on my current system my poor RAM is the one thing that is really holding me back.

I also added a nice PSU (thanks for the Corsair recommendation), and a nice sound card as apparently it can make a big difference.

Note the part where I twice mentioned that if he was intent on overclocking then the OCUK kit wouldn't be as good a choice. I'd also say you'll never notice the difference between 667 and 800 unless you're benchmarking or running superpi or suchlike.

This article covers it quite nicely (mostly from page 6 onwards): http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/memory/display/core2duo-memory-guide.html

edit - have fun building it Martyn, new kit is always a pleasure :)
